Due to road conditions, Sweet Springs R-7 will not be in session tomorrow, 1/7/25. Stay safe and warm, Greyhounds!

Congratulations to our G.R.I.T. Students of the week! WAY TO GO!!!! #greyhoundgrit

District wide we have enjoyed dressing up for the 12 days of Christmas. Today was movie character day! A few elementary teachers did a great job with the movie Home Alone!

Junior Honor Society visited the Steamboat Arabia Museum today. Students met David Hawley, one of the original treasure hunters. Students got to smell a fragrance that was recreated from perfume found on board and learned lots of cool things about our Missouri River!
Students also enjoyed escaping from an escape room!

Great Winter concert performance by our JH Choir, HS Choir, JH Band & HS Band. Thank you to the students, Ms. Fortner and Ms. Clifton for your time and dedication to our music department. Happy Holidays!

The 7th-grade FACS students created handsewn "monsters" from the artwork created by the Kindergarten students. The Kindergarten students colored their monsters on paper, and then the 7th graders recreated their specific monsters into a small pillow! The students enjoyed a fun story and then searched for their hidden monsters, with the help of the monster pillow creator.
These pictures show the 7th-grade students with Mrs. Bridges' Kindergarten students as they listen to Mrs. Hudson read a story about monsters in a library. There are also a couple of pictures of the students looking for their monsters hidden throughout the library.

The 8th-grade LIFE SKILLS students invited Mrs. Caldwell's students to color a monster however they wanted. The monster was then recreated by the 8th-grade students matching the colors and type of monster, and turning their artwork into an adorable hand-stitched pillow. After a fun story, the students searched for their monster in the library.

Come out and support the music program at the Winter concert!

On Saturday evening, volunteers from the High School Choir performed at the St Paul Christmas Market. Great job!

Thank you to the Wood & Huston Bank for sponsoring a trip to the Lyceum for our 7th & 8th grade students. On Friday, students enjoyed watching the production "A Christmas Carol". Thank you to the Lyceum Theater in Arrow Rock for a fantastic performance.

Upon returning from Christmas Break we will have a couple activities that will occur very quickly:
Courtwarming: Friday, January 24, 2025
Jam the Gym: Tuesday, February 4, 2025
Because these two dates are so close together, we want our fans to have the option to buy one or the other, or BOTH!

This week's events! Finish 2024 with GRIT!

Very proud JH students show off the bags they made using a sewing machine. These bags were lined, with a zipper and small strap. They all turned out really cute and the students did a great job! They put forth a good effort and showed great patience as they waited their turn. Thank you Debbie Reinitz for helping out! For most of the kids, this was their first experience with a sewing machine. They learned a great life skill!

JH students were excited to learn about the sewing machine and get to create a small zippered bag. Debbie Reinitz shared her sewing expertise and assisted them with this fun project.

Junior High students began their machine sewing project by cutting out the pattern for their bags. They learned how important it was to focus on the measurements of their pattern and to do a nice job cutting their fabric so their project would turn out well. After cutting out their patterns, JH students learned how important ironing can be to ensure flat seams when sewing.

Congratulations to Kamden Brookens and Drayton Hampton for making the KMZU Football Dream Team

Updated boys bracket for I-70 conference; notice time change from the original bracket.

Students in Foods class looked at the amount of sugar in their favorite beverages. Blake's Mountain Dew had the most with 46 g of sugar, but they were all surprised to see that their single 12 oz beverage met or exceeded the daily recommended allowance.

Congratulations to the following students for making JH Honor Band:
Lily Behm
Alizabeth Bredehoeft
Roman Cochran
Acheron Mallen
Hadassah Navarro
