Meet Ms. Rhea

Hello everyone, and welcome to a great year in 6th grade!  My name is Leah Rhea (sounds like Ray).  I am so excited to start this year with a fantastic group of kiddos and know that we will have a wonderful school year. I am fortunate to be a part of a great group of educators here at Sweet Springs.  Through positive encouragement, high expectations, and active participation, my mission is to inspire and spark an interest in all learners.

I grew up right here in Sweet Springs and am an alumnus of the Sweet Springs R-VII School District. I attended the University of Central Missouri graduating with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a minor in History and also a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences.  I’m currently finishing up my Master’s of Fine Arts in Writing from Lindenwood University in St. Louis.   This is my 12th year teaching, and my second year teaching as a Sweet Springs Greyhound!  Prior to Sweet Springs, I taught both 5th and 6th grade and have been a Library Media Specialist for some great districts including Sedalia #200, St. Joseph Public Schools, and Liberty Public Schools.

I am a proud mother of three amazing daughters.  Joanna will be going into 6th grade and Abigail going into 5th grade.  My step-daughter, Autumn, will be starting her first year of college.  We have three crazy pups, Jackson, Rocco, and Pierce, and two farm kittens, Salem and Charming.  The girls and I love to travel, go to sporting events (Go Chiefs!), and showing pigs.
