Who is Ms. Heaper
Who is Miss Heaper?

Ms HeaperTeacher Poem

Hi there!  My name is Ms Amy Heaper.  This will be my 22nd year teaching.  The first year I taught Title I reading.  I then taught 4th grade for the next nine years, and now I have been teaching 2nd grade for 12 years.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I was born on June 15th in Warrensburg Missouri.   I lived in Emma, Mo for the first 12 years of my life.  I lived on a farm one mile north of Emma.  I lived here with my parents and a younger brother.  While I lived in Emma, I went to school at Holy Cross Lutheran school, and played softball on the local team that was coached by my dad.  Then my family moved to Higginsville so my mother could be closer to her job.  In Higginsville I attend Lafayette Co. C-1. While in High School I participated in many activities.  One of the most important activities was band, where I played clarinet.  While in band I participated in marching band (my favorite), concert band, and performed in several solos and small ensembles.  While in school I also assisted the school librarian, helped collect money in the cafeteria, was a teacher's aid for an elementary school teacher, was active in several clubs, and performed in a color guard that performed in the winter.  After graduating from Lafayette Co. C-1, I started college at UCM.  I decided to work toward a teaching degree because I love learning new things and working with children; and for as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher.  After many semesters of hard work I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  I have also completed graduate school, earning a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UCM.

One thing you will find out through out the year is that I love to collect cow things.  In my classroom I have several cow picture frames with pictures of my family and friends, a cow hassock for students to sit on, and a cow "cow"-lender.  Cows are one of my favorite creatures.

I have many interests.  I love to go camping!  I go camping for a week every summer at Osage Beach right along the Osage River.  It is the best week of my life every year.  I get to spend time with the most important people in my life; my family and close friends.  While there we do lots of talking, hand work, shopping, movie going, and lots of Rest and Relaxation.  Each summer I attend a summer camp called Camp Quality Greater Kansas City.  This camp is for children who have or had cancer and their siblings.  The camp motto is: "Letting Kids With Cancer Be Kids Again!!".  We do lots of fun activities during camp; swimming, mini-golf, crafts, movies, zip-lining, boating, archery; there's just too much to list.  It is the most rewarding week of my summer!   I also LOVE to read!  I would read, read, read, read, read all the time if I could.  I like to read just about anything.  My favorite is adventure stories, stories that you just can't put down, and keep you on the edge of you seat until the very end.  How about you?  What do you like?  What are your interests?

Well, I hope this gives you a better understanding of "Who is Miss Heaper?"  If you have any questions, come by and ask me.
