Hi, I am Mrs. Joan Clouse the K-6 elementary counselor. I am excited to begin my 7th year at Sweet Springs School. I work part time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I have the 14 classes each week teaching students promote Bully Prevention and Character Ed, building self-esteem as well as other timely topics.
A little bit about me. I retired from Marshall Public Schools where I taught 5th and 6th grade and then went into counseling where I worked at the Saline County Career Center as Career and Technical Counselor. I am still an advocate for Career and Technical Education. It has been a rewarding career for me especially when the graduates see me and say thanks for counseling them with their technical education and career. Of course some grads let me know they are making more money than me!! These are reasons I stayed part time to continue in counseling because I hope I can make a difference in children’s lives!
I have lived in Marshall Mo most of my life, moving from a family farm in Waverly Mo. my junior year. I am married to Wayne Clouse and have 3 grown children who also live in Marshall. I have 5 wonderful grandchildren. We love to go boating and fishing at our lake home in Warsaw Mo.
After raising my kids and running a successful child care business, I decided to earn my degree in Elementary Education at MO. Valley College in Marshall. I continued my education and received my Masters in Counseling and a Specialist degree in Human Services and Industrial Arts and Technology from then known as Central Mo State University.
