We are proud of our school community, students, parents and staff.   The Mission of Sweet Springs Elementary, in cooperation with family and community, is to provide an educational environment which will encourage students to realize their potential and to serve as a resource for the community in promoting lifelong learning experiences.  In addition to our strong academic program, we believe that all students are leaders and focus on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids at Sweet Springs Elementary!  Below you will find some helpful information for the upcoming school year.  Please also visit our Just For Parents section for more information.  

                          Helpful Information for the 2017-2018 School Year:

School Begins: 8:00 a.m.  School Ends: 3:00 p.m.
Note: Students should not arrive at school before 7:30 a.m.

Breakfast:  Breakfast will begin at 7:30.  All students who are not eating breakfast are to sit in their designated area in the elementary gym.  

Breakfast and Lunch Prices:

K-6                                       7-12                                                    Adult

Lunch:  $1.95                     Lunch:  $2.25                                     Lunch: $2.25

Extra Milk: $0.35

Reduced Breakfast is 30 cents and reduced lunch is 40 cents.  Please have your child turn in all lunch money to their classroom teacher.         

VISITING THE BUILDING: 

When visiting the building during the day, please remember to take advantage of the parking spots and avoid parking near sidewalk.  Please check in at the office to receive a visitor’s badge.  We ask that you drop off supplies or items in the office you wish to be dropped off with your child’s teacher or your child.

ATTENDANCE:

If your child is sick or unable to attend school, please call the office by 9 a.m. to let us know.  Please send a doctor’s note when seeing a physician.  We appreciate your committed efforts to helping ensure that communication remains priority.

SCHOOL DISMISSAL:

If your child will be going someplace different after school on a particular day, please send a note to school.  Students must have a note!  If a situation comes up during the day that requires you to change your child’s transportation arrangements, please call as soon as you can.  If at all possible, please call before 2:00 pm.

BUS STOPS:

There will be several bus stops throughout town.  They are as follows: the intersections of Miller & New Rand, Main & Spring, Ray & Bridge, Daisy & Jefferson, Union & Daisy, Ray & Pine, and Mulberry & James.

PARENT PORTAL:

I encourage every parent in the district to sign up for this service.  It is a great communication tool to use when you have questions about current grades, homework, attendance history, or your child’s lunch account balance.  If you signed up for parent portal last year, you WILL need to fill out the parent portal papers again.  There is an information sheet being sent home with information on accessing Parent Portal.              

Home & School Organization

Sweet Springs Home & School is a wonderful organization that is very helpful to our school.  They plan many events, fundraisers, and purchase needed supplies for our school.  New members and ideas are always welcome, so please plan to attend our next meeting and become an active part in this great organization!
